State Forests Office of the State Enterprise is implementing project no. 17MI-KS-20-1-01847-PR001 “Construction of the Mazirlovia forest road of the Kuršėnai Regional Division of the VĮ State Forestry Authority, Meškuičiai Girininkija” under the “Investment in Material Assets” activity area of the Lithuanian Rural Development 2014-2020 program measure “Support for the improvement of forest infrastructure” . Support in the amount of EUR 80,436 is allocated for the implementation of the project, from which the funds of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development amount to EUR 68,370.60, i.e. i.e. 85 percent support amounts and Lithuanian state budget funds amount to EUR 12,065.40, i.e. i.e. 15 percent support amounts. The contribution of the recipient of the support – VĮ State Forestry Office – EUR 20,110 or 20 percent. of all eligible project costs. The planned end of the project is 2021. June 1
The project is carried out in the forest areas of state importance, located in the village of Tamošiūnai, Meškuičiai sen., Šiauliai district, managed by the right of trust of the State Forestry Agency. In the Mazirlovi Forest of the Meškuičiai Forestry of the Kuršėnai Regional Unit, L and U hydrotope vegetation prevails. Due to the insufficient road network, it is difficult to carry out forest maintenance, wood production and forest sanitary and forest protection works. After the construction of the new road, sustainable management of forests will be promoted, the viability of forests will be increased, and opportunities will be ensured to carry out the necessary economic and forest protection measures in the forests near the road under any conditions. The road is especially significant in the event of a forest fire, as prompt localization of fires reduces damage to forests. The project is carried out in the (economic) forest of forest group IV.
In order to improve the use and protection of the forest, a technical work project was carried out in 2019, which designed the construction of a new road in the 73rd, 74th, 77th, 78th and 83rd blocks of Meškuičiai Forestry. The total length of the road is 1700 m, the width of the carriageway is 4.5 m. A gravel road has been designed. The road is being built in wet (L and U) vegetation, so road drainage reserves, culverts, and sections have been designed. Owners of private forests whose forests border the road under construction will be able to use the constructed road free of charge.
