We manage state forests in Lithuania according to the principles of sustainable and balanced forestry. Since 2004, we have implemented a forest certification program based on the principles of the independent organization Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC-C007388). The FSC system for forest management evaluation and wood product origin labelling ensures that marked products are produced according to sustainable forest management principles.
Each year, we sell about 3.6 million cubic meters of raw timber, which accounts for 95% of the company’s revenue. These revenues are allocated to forest maintenance, road construction in forests and fully covering other activities of the State Forest Enterprise.
We conduct wholesale trading of raw timber and logging residues through the electronic wood sales system (EMPS), administered by UAB “Baltpool.”
The quantity of timber and logging residues sold depends on:
- The annual main logging quota in state forests approved by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania for a five-year period.
- The annual logging quota for main and intermediate forest cuttings set by the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania.

Timber Auctions
We sell raw timber and logging residues through wholesale and retail channels as per government regulations.
Wholesale trading of raw timber and logging residues produced in state forests is conducted by organizing auctions through the electronic timber sales system (EMPS).
In auctions for long-term and semi-annual contracts, the administrator of the electronic timber sales system, BALTPOOL UAB, and other users of the system do not have access to the information provided in buyers’ bids. In auctions for short-term contracts, buyers specify the quantity and price of the raw timber they intend to purchase, which is visible to all raw timber buyers participating in the auction.
After the auctions for long-term, semi-annual, and short-term contracts are completed, the electronic timber sales system automatically generates a list of the highest bidders who win the auction and gain the right to enter contracts. We then enter into short-term, semi-annual, and long-term contracts with the winners. Both legal entities and individuals wishing to purchase the sold timber have the right to participate in our wholesale auctions.
Our transactions related to timber trading activities are regulated by the “Description of the Procedure for Trading in Raw Timber and Logging Residues Produced in State Forests,” approved by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania (Government Resolution No. 972, November 30, 2017).
