Based on the provisions of the financing conditions description of the Development Program Progress Measure No. 02-001-06-08-04 “Promote Forest Development and Sustainable Forest Sector Development,” approved by the Order of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania on September 19, 2022, No. D1-305, the Lithuanian State Forest Enterprise may receive grants for implementing the following progress measure activities:
- “Improving the conditions for preparation, storage, and processing of forest seed material, as well as protection against diseases and pests by implementing advanced technologies and applying effective measures“.
- “Forest development on state land” under the activity area “Acquisition of land for new forests in state ownership“.
- “Applying effective measures for the conservation and restoration of efficient genetic forest tree resources“.
- “Development of forest tree selection and creation of a higher category seed forest base”.
Acquisition of Land for New Forests in State Ownership in 2023
In 2023, three regional units of the Lithuanian State Forest Enterprise (Tauragė, Telšiai, and Trakai) organized procedures for purchasing 8 land plots with a total area of 52.3 hectares, where forests are planned to be established. A total of 238 thousand euros of state budget funds were used for the acquisition of these land plots. After transferring these land plots to the Lithuanian State Forest Enterprise for management, new forests will be established on them.
